Introduction & scope
Seamless Socials (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the Seamless Socials platform, including our website, app, and related services that help you join community events at cafes, discover, reserve and pay at partner cafes (including walk-in bill payments), and earn and redeem rewards, coupons, and offers where available.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we process, why we process it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and what choices you have. It should be read alongside our Terms & Conditions and Refund & Cancellation Policy. By using our services, you acknowledge this policy and the practices described here.
If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use our services. For questions, see Contact & grievance.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use Seamless Socials, we may collect or receive categories of information including:
Account & profile
- Name, email address, and phone number. We sign you in using a one-time password (OTP) sent to your email, or via Google sign-in—we do not ask you to create or store a password.
- Profile preferences and communication preferences where you provide them.
Bookings, events & cafes
- Cafe reservations and event ticket bookings—including the date, time, party size or number of spots, your contact details, special requests or notes, the booking’s status, the session code issued for a cafe reservation and event ticket, and related transaction metadata.
- Walk-in bill submissions at partner cafes—including the cafe code, bill amount, optional table number, and the contact details you enter to settle the bill.
- Information you submit to event organizers or cafe partners through forms we host or facilitate (for example dietary notes), which they may process under their own policies.
Payments
- For paid events, billing details, payment method type, transaction and order IDs, and payment status. Card and UPI processing is handled by our payment provider, Razorpay; we do not store full card numbers on our servers. Cafe bills are paid directly at the cafe, so we record the bill amount and discount applied rather than collecting that payment online.
Rewards, coupons & offers
- Your rewards (cashback points) balance, amounts earned and redeemed, coupon usage, eligibility and entitlements, and audit logs needed to prevent abuse. Rewards are loyalty points, not a payment or financial account, and are retained for the same period as your booking history. Rewards may be earned against your email even before you sign in; signing in lets you unlock and use them.
Technical & usage data
- Device type, operating system, browser, approximate location derived from IP where needed for fraud or compliance, language settings, and timestamps.
- Product analytics such as pages viewed, searches, referral URLs, and crash diagnostics—often in aggregated or pseudonymous form.
Communications
- Content of support chats or emails, feedback you send us, and records of notices we send (booking confirmations, policy updates where required).
How we receive information
We obtain personal data from:
- You, when you register, book, pay, contact us, or upload content.
- Partners, such as organizers or cafes who manage listings or check-in lists (for example, guest lists for an event you joined through us).
- Service providers that help us operate the platform (hosting, analytics, payment, messaging), under contractual confidentiality and security obligations.
- Automatically, through cookies, pixels, and similar technologies when you use our services.
How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the platform—including event discovery and ticket booking, cafe discovery, search and filters, table reservations, walk-in bill payments, cafe validation of bills, on-site coordination, and in-venue benefits such as session codes and discounts.
- Sign you in via email OTP or Google, secure your account, and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents (for example, detecting inaccurate bill submissions).
- Process event payments through Razorpay, apply cafe discounts and coupons, and operate the rewards (cashback) program in line with our terms and partner rules.
- Send service messages (booking and bill confirmations, status updates, safety-related notices) and, where you opt in, marketing about events or cafes you may care about.
- Comply with law, respond to lawful requests, and enforce our terms, including cooperating with organizers or venues where necessary to resolve disputes tied to a booking.
- Analyze usage in aggregate to understand product performance and plan new features—with a focus on relevance, not surveillance of individuals.
Legal bases
Where regulations require a “legal basis” for processing (for example under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 in India, or comparable frameworks depending on your location), we rely on one or more of the following:
- Consent, when we ask explicitly (cookies beyond essential, promotional messages, optional profile fields).
- Contract, to perform steps you request before or after entering a contract—such as completing a booking or providing organizer tools.
- Legitimate interests, such as securing our systems, improving the product, and preventing fraud—balanced against your rights.
- Legal obligation, when we must retain or disclose information to meet accounting, tax, or regulatory duties.
You may withdraw consent where processing is consent-based, without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing.
Sharing & disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data in these situations:
- Event organizers & cafe partners, to fulfill your booking, manage attendance, and deliver the experience you selected.
- Processors & subprocessors bound by data protection terms—cloud hosting, email delivery for confirmations and notices, our payment gateway (Razorpay), analytics, and security vendors.
- Professional advisers, such as lawyers or auditors, under confidentiality.
- Authorities, when required by applicable law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of users, partners, or the public.
- Business transfers, in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, with notice where required.
Third parties receiving data are responsible for their own compliance where they act as independent controllers (for example, an organizer marketing their own event list).
Cookies & similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to run the site, remember preferences, understand traffic, and measure campaign effectiveness. You can control non-essential cookies through our cookie controls (where provided) and your browser settings; blocking some cookies may limit features such as staying logged in.
We may use session and persistent cookies, local storage, and pixels from analytics or advertising partners subject to your choices and applicable law.
Retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above, including legal, tax, and dispute resolution requirements. Retention periods vary—for example, booking and invoice records may be kept longer than casual browsing logs. When data is no longer necessary, we delete or anonymize it in line with internal schedules and technical capabilities.
Security
We implement administrative, technical, and organizational measures appropriate to the risk, including access controls, encryption in transit where standard for the service, monitoring, and vendor review. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; if we become aware of an incident that materially affects you, we will notify you and regulators as required by law.
Your rights & choices
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, update, or delete certain personal data; port it to another service where technically feasible; object to or restrict certain processing; and opt out of marketing. You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory or regulatory authority.
- Request a copy of personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate profile or booking details where possible in-app or via support.
- Request deletion, subject to legal retention exceptions.
- Withdraw marketing consent or adjust notification preferences.
Children
Our services are not directed at children under the age where parental consent is required in your jurisdiction. If you believe we have collected data from a child without appropriate consent, contact us and we will take steps to delete it promptly.
Cross-border transfers
We primarily process data in India. If we transfer personal data to other countries (for example, because a subprocessor hosts infrastructure abroad), we will use safeguards required by law, such as contractual clauses or adequacy decisions, where applicable.
Third-party links & listings
Our platform links to organizer sites, cafe pages, maps, or social channels. This policy does not apply once you leave our service or interact with a partner’s independent listing. Please review their privacy notices before sharing additional information.
Automated decisions & profiling
We may use automated systems to detect fraud, rank search results, or enforce limits on promotions. We do not make solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects for you unless permitted by law and, where required, with human review or your consent.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect product changes, legal requirements, or clarity improvements. We will publish the revised version with a new “Last updated” date and, where the changes are material, provide additional notice (for example, email or in-app banner) when required.
